Santiago de Chile, March 29 (EFE) .- Brazil, Argentina and Colombia, only Latin America is the largest producer of ethanol and biodiesel in the world, according to a study released today by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
According to United Nations agencies, biofuels can be produced from a wide range of agricultural and forest products, and said that since 2000, world production grew by an annual rate of 10% and amounted to 90,187,000 liters in 2009.
Of this amount, 82 percent of 18 percent bioethanol and biodiesel, the document defines the regional economy biofuels 2010: key issues for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Brazil is the second largest producer of bioethanol in the world, with 33.2 percent market share, behind the U.S., responsible for 54.7 per cent of world production, according to the data 2009.
